STUDENT COURSE IN BARBERING (1000 CLOCK HOURS)

The basics of Barbering/Styling, Advanced Barber/Styling, Cutting and Styling, Design Techniques, Barber Science, The Chemicals and Treatments, Anatomy, Industry Related Business Principles, Barber Boards, Operating in the Field and Practical Application.

Theory of Barbering

150 hrs

Theory of Barbering (Classroom) material is taken from Standard Textbooks assigned by the California Board of Barbering and Cosmetology designed to aid prospective Barbers in completing the State Barbering Licensing Exam. The Theory of Barbering (Classroom) hours cover the following subjects:
The basics of Barbering/Styling, Advanced Barber/Styling, Cutting and Styling, Design Techniques, Barber Science, The Chemicals and Treatments, Anatomy, Industry Related Business Principles, Barber Boards, Operating in the Field and Practical Application.

Practical Application

800 hrs

Practical Application (Haircuts for Clients) is 800 hours of the Barbering Course and helps students learn how to practically apply what they have learned in the classroom. Practical Application (Haircuts for Clients) is closely supervised by Urban Barber College Instructors at all times to ensure students are applying the proper barbering techniques with regard to the Board of Barbering and Cosmetology. Instructors also supervise and ease the interaction between students and clients to make sure they are practicing proper etiquette and following the Urban Barber College Code of Conduct.

State Board Exam Prep

50 hrs

The last segment of the Urban Barber College is additional Preparation for State Board for a total of 50 hours. Urban Barber College wants to make sure Students are thoroughly prepared to pass the State Board of Barbering Exam and will make sure every student is given the attention they require to succeed.

Successful Graduation

All barber students are required to complete 1000 hours of instruction. A student is awarded a Certificate of Completion certifying their graduation upon completing the required theory and practical hours (1000), with a minimum 75% GPA. Urban College assists students in completing the necessary documents needed to file for the appropriate State California Department of Consumer Affairs Licensure Examinations. All student workbooks must be completed and turned into their instructor. At this point, all institutional charges and fees are either paid in full or otherwise accounted for. Upon successfully passing the examination the graduate can obtain a Registered California Barber License. With this license the registered barber may be employed in a Barber/Styling establishment, a Beauty/Styling salon or own and operate his/her own Barber establishment.

Urban Barber College Requires a Total of 1000 hours of School in the STUDENT COURSE IN BARBERING To GRADUATE.

Urban Barber College has all Tools and Equipment available for purchase needed to successfully graduate.
